What was your first job, and how did it shape your life?

My first job was working in the family business. My parents owned a Chinese restaurant, and I started working there in high school. It taught me the importance of teamwork, patience and multi-tasking. I also learned to smile even in the most challenging of situations.

What keeps you awake at night?

I often ask myself, “Have I lived a purposeful life thus far? Have I loved those around me enough? Will I be able to leave this world better than it is today?” I strive to do these things every day.

What books are currently on your bedside table?

I have five books on my bedside table that all were very meaningful reads. I like to go back to each to review my favorite passages and be inspired. :
The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
A Lifetime of Secrets by Frank Warren

When do you feel most free?

I stay very connected to my colleagues, clients, and personal life through technology. However, I always try to take a remote vacation each year to unplug and recharge.

What is an extraordinary place you have recently traveled to?

During my recent trip to Japan, I visited Mount Rokko in Hyogo Prefecture located in Kobe, Japan. The view at the very top of the mountain was breathtaking. You could see all of Kobe and Osaka in one panoramic view. The best time to go is during sunset as the sky melts into the landscape.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I played the French Horn for 10 years.
