Wendy CHOU 周薇君
President & CEO
I am fortunate enough to be embarking on my seventh year in business at CHOUmedia, a communications firm serving mostly small and mid-size organizations focused on the intellectual property space. We partner with companies to develop tailored marketing and media strategies to help them grow their businesses. I also have a second event-based business and this year, we’ll be developing our third annual IP Dealmakers Forum bringing together the most influential group of investors and intellectual property experts. Additionally, I was recently elected President of the New York City Hemophilia Chapter, an organization that aims to improve the lives of those affected by bleeding disorders. So far, 2016 is shaping up to be a very busy but interesting and exciting year!
What keeps you awake at night?
There are many things that keep me awake at night but one of the most significant is access to care – continued access to care for my kids and others with bleeding disorders in our country, as well as better access or just basic access to care for others with bleeding disorders around the world. I am constantly thinking about ways to truly make a difference in these areas.
What books are currently on your bedside table?
I’m always reading several books at one time. Currently I’m in the middle of reading – A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, The Dancing Wu Li Masters, What is the What, The Last Town on Earth, and Mao.
WHEN DO YOU FEEL MOST FREE?
I feel most free when I’m on a long run in the park, when the wind is blowing through my hair and I’m clearing my mind of all the day’s worries.
WHAT IS YOUR VIEW ON MONEY?
I prefer the ancient bartering system, but since most people use money these days, I usually carry at least one credit card and some cash in my pocket.
WHAT IS AN EXTRAORDINARY PLACE YOU HAVE RECENTLY TRAVELED TO?
I was recently in Goa, India with my family. The entire experience was super cool and somewhat surreal, almost like being in a Technicolor Bollywood movie with all the colorful and vivid imagery.
WHAT’S ONE THING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
People assume I’m an extrovert because of my profession, so most are surprised when I tell them I’m an introvert. The truth is when I’m not working, there is nothing I enjoy more than being in a quiet place by myself reflecting on life and love.
